Program note
wash, for percussion trio, employs an array of instruments, mostly made from natural materials, to explore the space between atmosphere and rhythm. I used a magic square to determine how long each player would play each instrument. This created unique fleeting moments and areas of relative stasis as interlocking grooves emerge and disappear in the landscape.
