what lessons look like
My approach is rooted in experiential learning. I believe that you grow by making things, trying ideas, and reflecting on what you enjoy.
Lessons typically involve:
- Feedback on your current composition
- Short études to explore ideas and techniques
- Listening, reading, or viewing assignments
- Discussions about your musical identity: What kind of composer are you? What is this passage trying to do? What excites you?
- Optional work with audio production, mixing, sound design, or DAW workflows
There’s no “right” way to compose—there’s only the way that fits your voice. My job is to help you discover that voice and develop it confidently.

I’m always open to talking about the career side of being a creative musician—grant writing, networking, commissions, teaching, releasing music, and building multiple income streams. Many students come to me not just for lessons, but for creative coaching and help navigating the early stages of a music career.
