I hold a PhD in music composition and enjoy writing. I have published several academic articles, presented papers on conferences, and co-written successful grants. Contact me for help with the following:
copy for programs & websites
Whether your bio needs some polish, or you need someone to write program notes for a concert, I would love to help you. Not only do I have experience writing academic papers, I have written and produced two seasons of a classical radio program, blogged for many years, and informally edited many papers, bios, etc.
This website was made in WordPress. I am also familiar with Squarespace and a fair amount of HTML and CSS. I am happy to consult on website content, or make you a new one from scratch. I am not a true web developer, but I have a lot of experience creating websites as well as teaching musicians about building websites and maintaining a “web presence.”

Graduate school and academia are extremely difficult “markets.” I will help you focus your cover letter and punch up the language.
Since I hold a PhD in music, I am very comfortable with the format, expectations, and process of completing a dissertation. Services include proofreading and line editing.
I have transcribed interviews for academic projects, including an interview of Daniel Myer (Haujobb) for S. Alexander Reed’s book Assimilate. I have an ear for accents and can produce verbatim or lightly edited transcriptions (English only).
Grant proposals can be a mysterious process, but I can guide you through them. The keys are knowing where to look and how to check off requirements. More importantly, patience and tenacity. Only a small percentage of grant proposals are funded. I have co-written successful grants for Charlotte New Music (SouthArts). Since this is a new venture for me, and because there are no guarantees for success, my rates are very reasonable.
